Omid Djalili

Omid Djalili

Omid Djalili (oh-mid JAH-lily) was born in Chelsea, London to Iranian Bahá'í parents. He was educated in England and Northern Ireland  But, his material is mainly about the differences between the religions of Iran and England, and the differences between the two cultures as well. He does excellent impressions and sometimes belly dancing. He is a Chelsea Football Club fan, and regularly gigs at Stamford Bridge, their stadium. He has appeared in films such as The World Is Not Enough (2000), Notting Hill (1999) and Gladiator (2000), and the TV programmes Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and his own, The Omid Djalili Show.  He has won awards like The EMMA award, LWT Comedy Award and the One World Media Award (the ones nobody has ever heard of). He is currently married and has three children, who have all somehow learned how to pronounce, and spell, his name.
